Neurodivergent Couples Therapy
When You Love Each Other but Keep Missing Each Other

You love each other. And you're exhausted. The same argument keeps coming back, nobody feels heard, and you're starting to wonder if this is just how it is. It isn't. But it does need help that accounts for how each of your brains actually works.

How I Help

Three Ways We Can Work Together

Before I became a therapist, I spent 17 years working with the body as an acupuncturist. That experience shaped how I understand healing - and it's part of everything I do now. Here's where I can actually help.

Neurodivergent Couples Therapy

When two brains work differently, love isn't always enough. We look at what's actually happening between you - the patterns, the misses, the places where you keep losing each other - and we build something that works for both of you.

Couples Therapy

Individual Neurodivergent Therapy

For neurodivergent adults figuring out who they are, how their brain works, and what they actually need - in relationships, in work, and in life. Late diagnosis welcome. Not sure if you're neurodivergent? That's welcome too.

Individual Therapy

Couples Retreat Intensives

Sometimes 50 minutes a week just isn't enough to get underneath things. A retreat gives you a real stretch of time to do concentrated work, in person in San Diego - without stopping when you're just getting somewhere.

Couples Retreats

Woven Into All of It

Somatic Psychotherapy

Some things are easier to notice through sensation than through words. For clients who experience overwhelm, shutdown, or trouble naming what's going on inside, paying attention to the body offers another doorway into the work.

How I Use the Body

When You Feel Alone in Your Relationship

If you're the partner who has been carrying things alone for a long time - feeling unseen, unheard, or like you're the only one who notices what's wrong - this is a space where your experience gets to matter too, without having to justify it first.

Who This Is For

People Usually Come to Me Wanting To

Not because something is broken - because something keeps repeating, and they're ready to understand what's underneath it.

  • Stop having the same fight over and over
  • Understand why one partner shuts down while the other pushes for more
  • Communicate without immediately getting defensive
  • Make sense of a new ADHD or autism diagnosis - their own or their partner's
  • Work through years of built-up resentment
  • Feel like partners again instead of adversaries

About Maring

I've Lived a Lot of This Myself

I'm a therapist, a mom of two, and someone who got her own ADHD diagnosis as an adult - which reframed a lot of things. Before this, I spent 17 years as an acupuncturist, working with the body every day. I've been in relationships where the love was real and the connection was hard. I know what that costs.

I bring all of that into the room. Not as a script, but as someone who gets it - and who has done enough of her own work to sit with yours without flinching.

I'm not here to fix you or your relationship. I'm here to help you understand what's actually happening, and to walk alongside you while you figure out what comes next.

You Shouldn't Have to Explain Your Brain Before We Can Begin

People Who Find Their Way Here Are Often

Somewhere in the middle of figuring out their diagnosis - or wondering if they have one. In relationships where the same disconnection keeps happening no matter how hard they try. Tired of masking, or grieving a version of themselves they never got to be. Sometimes all three at once.

Intensive Experience

Couples Retreats: When 50 Minutes a Week Isn't Enough

There are things that just don't fit into weekly sessions. Old patterns that need more room. Conversations that keep getting interrupted before they go anywhere real. A retreat gives you a full stretch of time to actually get somewhere.

Unhurried, Concentrated Time

Two-day or three-day formats. No clock-watching, no starting over next week. Just the two of you and the work.

Designed Around You

Every retreat is built around your relationship specifically - your history, your patterns, what you actually need to shift.

More Than Talking

I bring somatic and experiential work in alongside conversation. Things tend to land differently when the body is part of it.

Couples Retreat Intensive

A private, in-person intensive for couples who are ready to do real work together. Not a quick fix - a real investment in understanding each other differently.

Common Questions

Things People Usually Ask Before Reaching Out

Do you offer in-person sessions?
All therapy sessions are online via Google Meet, for clients anywhere in California. The one exception is couples retreats, which happen in person in San Diego.
Do you take insurance?
I'm a private-pay practice. I can provide superbills you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and a limited number of reduced-fee spots are available. Full details are on my Fees page.
What's the difference between weekly couples therapy and a couples retreat?
Weekly sessions are 50 minutes online and build steadily over time. A retreat is two or three days of concentrated work in person in San Diego, for couples who want more room than weekly sessions allow. Some couples do both - a retreat to get underneath things, then weekly sessions to keep going.
I'm not sure whether I'm neurodivergent. Can I still work with you?
Yes. Many people come to me somewhere in the middle of figuring that out - wondering, recently diagnosed, or partnered with someone who is. You don't need a diagnosis to start, and you don't need to explain your brain before we can begin.
